Memorial Stability Testing - Urgent Notice

Memorial Stability Testing

Crich Parish Council has completed a programme of memorial stability testing in the Crich Burial Ground. This is located to the rear of St Mary's Churchyard, accessed via the lane off Cromford Road, opposite Dowie Way.

The programme will ensure compliance with relevant legislation; LACO 1977 and Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and will follow guidance provided by the Ministry of Justice and the ICCM.

The testing programme took place on the 23rd & 24th September 2024, by an external company.

Some headstones have failed this test and a yellow warning sign has been attached, please do not remove the warning sign.

If a headstone in your care for has been identified please contact a memorial mason urgently, they will be able to stabilise the headstone for you, or contact Crich PC for advice. Our office hours are Tuesday to Thursday 8.30 to 4.30 Tel: 01773 853928

Letters will be posted to all Next of Kin next week, please be aware that this information may not be up to date, so the letter may not arrive. Please email clerk@crich-pc.gov.uk to update any NOK information if necessary.
